Quarantine Magician - Update from lockdown

I am writing this on the fourth day of my isolation, the UK are now officially in lock down, everything has closed and the prime minister recently announced that no weddings or parties are to take place. This blog is about what I have been doing (and not doing). A big thank you to Paul Davies photography for kindly sharing the images within this blog.

I would like to think I have been pro-active about supporting the couples and people who had booked me. I have made sure that I have been in regular contact with those who have bookings in the next couple of months, I have moved dates (one twice) with no penalty/cost and where possible, have been giving advice and recommendations. My previous blog gave some advice and if you have not read it yet, you can read it by clicking here

Despite the current situation, I have still taken three bookings last week. To be honest, I was not expecting the inquiries (and subsequent bookings) but it did make me think that the situation we are in WILL NOT last forever, that some people are using this time to prepare and that most people probably do have more time at the moment to research and talk to people. Furthermore, the global situation has hit the entertainment industry (and self-employed people in general) extremely hard, so I imagine that providers would be willing to do a little extra for the money at present.

What have I been up to......

In all honesty, not a great deal! When I first realised that we would probably have to be in our homes for an extended period, I planned to do a lot of the things I had been putting off as well as developing some new things. This has not happened yet! The ever-changing situation has meant that people who have booked me are asking different questions on almost a daily basis (which I am fine with) but I also have two children in the house that are quite rightly in need of attention. Today I got out of bed at 4:30am so that I could write this blog in peace.

Coming up......

In the immediate future I have a social media competition, which will be out for this afternoon. I do have some other ideas but will update you on those in the next blog.

Just a quick note to say thank you to the hundreds of people that read my last blog. I have been writing blogs for years now and for the first year I don't think any were even read so its great that they are of some use.

If you have any questions you would like me to cover in the blogs, please send them to me at info@jameshawkermagic.co.uk
